Qualifying periods for visa

Am I right in saying that 27 month spouse visa can be applied in the 26th month 28 days before expiry of a 27 month spouse visa? I heard the home office is now phasing out 24 month spouse visa for 27 months as people required to get extensions while applying for ILR.

i think the reason they increased the visa validity to 27months was because unless if you travelled with 28days of issue of your spouse visa you would struggle to meet the 2year residency requirement before applying for ILR.
The date of application of ILr is determined by the date you moved to the UK. so you can apply for ILR 28days b4 the 2year mark
