My wife needs to apply for her ILR visa soon. Is there a need to send a house inspection/surveyor report with an ILR application. we have been living in the same house at which my wife came to live two years ago.

Obviously there are documentary requirements, as specified in the form SET(M), but a read of that form will show you that nowhere does it mention the sort of report suggested by you.
