Applying before 28 days period entry

Post by HMRB » Mon Jan 18, 2010 4:04 pm

Hello everybody.

I am applying for ILR based on my 5 year work permit which runs out in March this year and I am doing this through a solicitor.

Date of Entry on WP: 20th March 2005
Work Permit Expiry: 9th March 2010

My question is that my solicitor is sending my application through post on 4th feb which is well before the 28 days before entry into the UK. Will this be ok or will the home office just refuse my application outright??!!

normally postal applications are placed on hold till the date you're qualified for review.

so i've heard.
if your solicitor can do it then it's fine. although i wouldn't risk doing it myself.

if you send it via post then why do you need to do it via solicitor? surely you can do it yourself?

I'm doing it through a solicitor in case any complications arise in the process. Hopefully there shouldn't be because my case is simple... fingers crossed!

Also what is this thing about biometrics? What is it and will I be asked to get something done?

Everyone needs to have their biometrics done. This is when they take your fingerprints and a photo of your face.
I tell it like it is.

What about in person application? Would they do biometrics on the day of appointment?
