Thanks everyone for your advice - this forum is invaluable!

I just managed to book an appointment (main applicant + one dependant) on the telephone booking line, for the 10th of Feb at Solihull.

You might want to try now - closest to the weekends is probably the best time to chance upon an appointment.

I will post my experience when I'm done.
