Tier1 to ILR - When to apply

Hi,

I entered UK on a work permit on 24-Apr-2006 and switched to Tier 1( General) on 8-April 2008.

My Tier 1 visa expires on 8-April-2011 which is 16 days short of the 5 years required for ILR but is within the 28 days that I can apply in advance of 5 years.

What should I do?

Can I apply for ILR on/around 01/Apr/2011 as my immigration status will then remain the same while my application is being decided.

Or should I get an extension for my Tier 1 and then apply for ILR after completion of 5 years.

Work Permit: 24/Apr/2006 - 08/Apr/2008
Tier 1 (General): 08/Apr/2008 - 08/Apr/2011

Thanks in advance
SS

Please don't make multiple posts on the same topic.

No need to apply for further extension as you can apply for ILR.
1. If you want to apply in person, book an appointment at any PEO for any day between 28-Mar-11 and 08-Apr-11 (both days inclusive).
2. If applying by post (royal mail), make sure that you "post" the ILR application anyday between 28-Mar-11 and 08-Apr-11 (both inclusive).
3. If applying by courier, make sure that your ILR application reaches UKBA on/after 28-Mar-11 but no later than 08-Apr-11.
