I applied for ILR (work permit basis) via post in January 2010. I had a CCJ, however, I was very honest about it and I made a full account of the issue to HO.
Last week the ILR was granted and passports were posted back, we received them on 23/2/2010. In fact because my wife lost her relative, we are now finalising arrangements for travel.

Good news! Just out of curiosity, did UKBA entertain your request for priority treatment (if it was made)?

Yes, they did, I posted request on Tuesday and by friday they completed the application and then posted the passport on monday this week
