Tier 2 or ILR?

I have a friend who is in a dilema right now.
She has been offered a job from an employer who can give C of Spon under Tier 2. BUT in 8 months time, she can apply under 10 year long residency.
She knows that if she switches into Tier 2 and apply for ILR then whilst the UKBA process her application, (6 months approx), she can continue working whilst if she applies for ILR as a student, she will have to stop working.
I told her she should switch into Tier 2 JUST IN CASE, her long residency is refused (which means she can just continue on her T2)
Is switching into Tier 2 a good choice for her? or will it bring any problems?
I am not so sure myself!
