Indefinite Leave

I have just joined the forum, and can not believe what I have been reading! I a British national, born in a small village in Oxfordshire of English parents in the mid 40's, grew up and went to school there. I came to Germany with the forces, married and stayed on over here back in the early 70's. I have a British Passport that states that I am a British Citizen and would therefore have the 'Right of abode'. I thought I had the right to go back to the UK as and when I wanted and not ask for any rights to stay in the country. So what is all this talk about 180 days absence from the UK? What if I decide to return to the UK after 45 years in DE? Must I have or apply for some form for me to live in the UK? Can this then refused?
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE UK!!!

You are British and can choose to stay anywhere you like ,any length of time and come back to UK any time you want.Those days you are talking about apply to those with ILR or those who are under immigration control.Once you have British passport you are no longer subject to those controls, you can come back to UK at any time.

Chill out Mike, you are a brit and you have no limit on when you come and go from this country unless you gave up your British citizenship.
The rules you were reading are for immigrants not home grown Brits

Stay in Germany! I'm trying my best to get out of the UK, it's not a country anymore, it's a plc.....
The 180 days absence applies to those chasing UK citizenship, you don't need to worry!
