Hi,

I am working in UK since Oct 2007 on a workpermit status. I plan to change my job on a Tier-2 category. My prospective employer has provided a certificate of sponsorship and I beleive I will be granted 3 year permission to work in UK under Tier-2.

Do I qualify to apply for ILR during October 2012, when I would have completed total 5 years stay in UK (including 2 yr. 8 months under workpermit category and 2 yr 4 months under Tier-2 category) ?

Thanks,
skg

You will be affected by "earned citizenship" laws being introduced from July 2011 onwards. Wait until then (or until detailed information is published by UKBA) to figure out which category you will qualify for under the new rules.

My case is as follows:

I have got WP on Oct 2006
I have changed my employment and got Tier 2 Visa on Sept 2009

My 5 Year work will be completed on Oct 2011

Will I be able to apply for ILR on Oct 2011? Or Will I be effected by new Earned citizenship law?

Regards
