Which language test?

Hi,

Im Mauritian, married to a UK citizen from birth, currently on a spouse visa.
In December 2011 my visa expires and I will need to apply for ILR. I have completed my NVQ4 in Management and also a Diploma in nursing, so obviously my English is up to scratch (its the language we speak in Mauritius!)

Question is, do I have to sit the English tests or can I just go and do the Life in the UK test?

Also, when can I sit the test anytime? Im sure I read somewhere it has to be within 2 months of the visa expiry date. Are there any changes to the ILR application coming in any time soon?

Thanks,

Smila :D

can I just go and do the Life in the UK test?
To that, yes! When you apply for ILR (or whatever it is called at the time), you will need to supply a pass certificate from the Life in the UK Citizenship test.

Yes anytime, you have not got to wait until 2 months before you apply for ILR.

Bear in mind you'll need to study for the test as it's not an English test as such but covers British social history, laws, ethnic percentages, politics and customs. You need to cover only chapters 2-6 from the official Home Office book.
