URGENT HELP REQUIRED ON COUNCIL TAX BENEFIT AND ILR

Hi All,

I came to the UK in August 2005 and due to apply for my ILR in July 2010.

When i first came to the UK i stayed with a friend for around a period of 8 months, he was already renting a house and we started sharing the rent and all utility bills, obviously the council tax was on his name and he was claiming the single person’s council tax benefit of 25%. My friend later moved to a different house i continued to stay in the same house and transferred the council tax on my name and since then started paying the full council tax (as my family arrived in the UK)

Now my question is, when i apply for my ILR will the discount of 25% be a problem? Will this affect my ILR application?

Please can someone throw some light on this?

Thanks.

I think there is a difference between council tax benefit and discount, you just got a discount of 25%(or for your friend), in any case, i dont think council tax is a criteria for ILR, they wouldnt ask where you lived all 5 years and whether you pay council tax for these years or not.
