Our son was born here in the UK. I am a British National by birth and my wife is on a 2 year settlement visa.

Would our 6 month old son need to be mentioned on the ILR form as a dependant ?

The question to ask yourself is ..... does your son need a UK visa? The answer is of course .... no! Why no, because he is a British Citizen!

Accordingly he does not need to be mentioned on the form SET(M).
