I am posting this for my sister. She is applying for settlement after 5years as a work permit holder. She completing the form and is stuck on question 6.1.

Q6.1 When did you (the main applicant) first enter the UK? This refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is based.

Does she write the date she entered the UK as a student in 2002 or does she enter the date her last leave to remain was issued (4 weeks after her work permit was issued) in 2005? She hasnt left the UK since she came in 2002.

Thanks.

So it doesnt matter that when the WP was issued it was a variation of her student visa and she didnt physically 'enter' the UK in 2005?

No, if/because she switched from being a student to being a WP migrant by making a leave to remain application from within the UK.
