Hello Everybody,

I am a British Citizen. My wife is applying for ILR using SET M form after spending two years with me in UK. I have few questions and all help would be highly appreciated.

1. My wife booked same day appointment from UKBIA website. There was an option of adding dependents and family members who will be attending the appointment. Does she need to add me to the appointment? or should I just turn up with her on the day of appointment and I will be allowed in because it is SET M application and partner is also required to be present.

2. Do you have to provide Payslips ? or bank statements are sufficient? In my case I am self employed. If payslips are required I can attached my business account statements as well.

3. From Nov 22 fee is going to be increased. There is an option of submitting PDF application form I downloaded from the website and pay it online once we have completed the form. If I do it today? would old fee will apply? Although our appointment is on 3rd of Dec.

4. I am self employed and business is now two years old. Some months are good for money coming in and some are not so good. Would that effect my affordability? we have never used any sort of benefits what so ever.

5. We dont receive money from anybody on regular basis. but In January 2010 I received 55k from my father Abroad as a gift to pay for the deposit of house we own. Should I show the letter of transfer? Would this help that we own a house and we have a good stake in it as we paid a very high deposit.

6. We have plenty of documents at the same address. but nothing in joint names. Only thing which shows jointly is our phone bill. Account is in her name and It comes from my direct debit. Do all documents have to be in joint names for proof of address?

You don't need to be booked on the appointment, but you do need to attend with your wife. If for some reason you're unable to then you should submit a letter explaining why you're not with her.
If you're self employed, submit a copy of your last self-assessment tax return together with your business bank statements.
It doesn't matter that you only have one document as proof of address in joint names. If you're applying at a PEO include extra to the 6 required in single names. The checking officers like to sift through the paperwork to select what they want.
As the focus for SET(M) is on the fact that the relationship is continuing rather than finance (as long as you are able to support yourselves) it's irrelevant whether you own your house or not.
Unfortunately, you'll have to pay the increased fee and apply on the new form if your appointment is after the 22nd November.

I just read another news on UKBIA website that from 29th November you will need to fulfill english language test requirement as well?

My wife passed Life in the UK test recently. She also has a Masters degree from UK. Does she also need to do fulfill this English Language Test requirement?

Could you please explain why wouldnt she need to take language test? is it due to a masters degree from UK? do we also need a letter from UNI or original degree certificate is sufficient?

It's due to the fact that the new English test doesn't apply at all for ILR applications. Only KOL is needed.

I am applying on the 6 th of december but dont have any savings, is this going to affect the decision , also my partner is looking after our baby andwe receive benefits
