ILR Eligibility

Dear All
I came to UK by Employer Work Permit in Mid October 2006. Switched to Tier 1 General in Dec 2010 with visa valid till Dec 2012.
I have been to India for 15 days in March 2008 (annual leave) and then from 12th Oct 08 to 1st Dec 08 due to business visit, 24 Dec 08 to 11 Jan 2009 for business visit and from 7 Dec 2009 to 4 Jan 2010 as annual leave.
I have been paid by my employers during the above days of absence from the UK.
Please advice if I am eligible to apply for ILR in October 2011?
Also when should I take and pass Life in the UK test?
