Hi,
I am on tier1 (general), eligible to apply for ILR end of next month. I have 2 queries to clarify, appreciate your advice.

1. From the day I entered till 2009 mid I was permanent employed .I had to quit the company and I been to my native Country for 45 day, I have done some technical course to update my skills set. I am not sure what to put under absence reason, because I don’t have any proof that I been for updating my skills. Is it fine if I put ‘been for holiday to my native country for 45days’ under column reasons for absence. In 5 years I was only 82 days out of UK which includes this 45 days.

2. Presently I am staying in shared House, I pay 400 pound for my room which includes all bills.I have tenancy agreement which is only one sheet of paper. Says how long my contract is there with them but it doesn’t says bills are included (‘I don’t pay council tax and electric and gas bill’). Can I use this tenancy agreement because I don’t have bills on my name?

Many thanks...

1- Of course yes

2- Why do you need to show tenancy agreement at all. Usually it is not asked for. But if you want you can enclose it. Do you have bank statements coming at home address?

Thanks XYZ123,

1. The reason for my concern is, I was not employed during my holiday period. After my return i started contracting.
2. Yes i get my bank statement to home address, but i seen in forums and heard that tenancy agreement is required for ILR to show that you are not living on benefits.

1- Depends on your visa at that timie. If you were on work permit and left work without arranging for another visa then you are in breach of work permit visa requirements. If you were on Tier 1 at that time then it should be ok.

2- i do not recall being asked for tenancy agreement when i went to my ILR (based on WP + Tier 1). If you are so concerned ask landlord to revise the agreements that bills are included in stated rent on agreement.
