Switching to T2(Gen) from T2(ICT)-after 6 Apr-impact on ILR

Hi,

1-I got Tier 2 (ICT) in May 2009 for two years
2-Got extension with same Employer for 3 years
3- Getting a very good opportunity at another company so want to switch to
Tier 2 (General) sponsored by new employer (After April 5) .

My question to knowledgeable members:

I am eligible for ILR at the moment, but will I remain eligible for ILR according to new rules, if I switch to Tier 2 (General) with a new employer after April 5th 2011?

How? If you entered UK in 2009 then, under current rules, you won't be eligible for settlement until 2014.

sorry my mistake, what I wanted to say was that I'll be eligible in 2014 (of course not now) as per my current visa but by changing employer and taking a new Tier2 visa after 6th April 2011, will I be able to apply for ILR in 2014.

The reason I ask this question is that after April 2010 Tier2 route will not lead toword Settlement. Will changing employer and switching to Tier2 (general) from Tier2(ICT) be considered as new visa or same rules of 2009 will apply on me.

your comments will be appreciated.

Taking into consideration the current rules and the changes being implemented from 06-Apr-11, if you switch from Tier 2 (ICT) to Tier 2 (General) it should not affect your eligibility to settlement in 2014 - assuming there are no further changes in the interim.
