HI, so sorry for the delay in posting. My laptop was not itself for a while. Have been waiting to post this for what seems a life time!! Basically my husband had his set m application at birmingham/solihull PEO on 30march at 12.30am. If anyone would like to know what documents we took with us please read my previous posts. So about our experience, as we dont live far from the PEO we got there quite early, about 11.40am. Quite glad we got there early as there were loads of people. The buliding is easy to find and once inside its a pretty straight forward procedure, we went in. Had to wait in a small corridor for security, had bags checked and the man at reception looked at the application form front page only and made note of SET-M. We went in waiting room, as described by others it was like an airport style check. The man at security and reception were really nice. We sat down and my husbands name was called after 5 minutes where he was given a ticket , his number was 234. AS there were no clocks around and many people were kept being told to switch there mobiles off we did too, hence the next timings are approximate. Our number was called about 45mins later. The caseworker sat behind a glass counter, 1st he asked for both passports, next application form, life in uk pas letter and then photographs, he asked how recent they were. He then said I just have to make a note of something on pc then will be with you, he was just typing on his pc. He then aasked why my husbands entry clearance was originally refused, I said its because we didnt realise at the time third party support was no longer accepted..at this point i was very scared! and thought oh no he will ask for loads of income info now however he did not!! Then he just said can I have 6 documents showing you have been living together for past 2years. I said a have quite a selection and offered to pass them through, he looked quite happy. Out of all he just kept:
Husband doctors card 17 march 2009
Husband driving lisence with card March 2009
My driving lisence with card March 2009
Joint Bank statemnt 27 Feb 2010
Virgin media phone and broadband bill 23 July 2010
My child benefit letter 6 Sep 2010
My Mobile contract letter 30 Dec 2010
My Poll Card March 2011
Husband poll card March 2011
We were worried as we only had our statemnts joint, he did ask if we have our daughters birth certificate as he could have used that as proof of joint residence, but i didnt have that. So for anyone worried you can use your childrens birth certificates, only if its both you and partners names on there though ofcourse!
He was ticking off months on a checklist.
Then he said I have to go check something at went off for about 5mins. when he came back he asked my husband where he worked, sort of in a frendly manner, i didint think it was linked to the application..but you never know...my husband couldnt hear properly...so he asked in our urdu language, which was nice of him. He then said to my hubby in our language tht dont worry i will give you settlemnt visa. And thats it really!! he said its up to you if you want to wait or go home but come back before 3pm, (to collect passport) We paid at counter the lady there was also very nice and pointed out we live in a nice area as she used to live there too. Then thats it,we came home as I left my daughter so had to feed her. We left at about 1pm. We went back a 2.30 but passport wasnt ready. i was told to come back after 30min..but was ready at 4pm with a fat stamp! lol no more visa.
Thats it i guess!! all i can say is dont be nervous, we never felt intimidated by anyone at the office. My advice is to be prepared so you know mentally you have everything there, they only asked forproof of livng togther for us but that doesnt mean its the same case for you. if anyone asks any qns please do so. my fingers are hurting now!!
Lastly a big thankyou to all for your support, especially the legal reps. Everyones posts really helped. dont want to mention names incase i forget someone!
THANKYOU.X
