Approve the continues working status in the past 5 years?

If I don't have P60 for the initial 3 years (and can't get bank statement either because that bank account has been closed 2 years ago), can I ask my employer to write a letter to approve my employment status in the past?
(I got the P60 for the last two years with my current employer. )
I also got a letter from HMRC to approve my total annual income for the last 5 years (not each month, but each year).
Is that enough?
thank you very much!
Leon

You should provide more information like what visa you're on. What you'll need will depend on under what category you are applying.

IMO, you don't need to prove your income for all 5 years. With ILR application you only need 12 consecutive months (out of 15 months) from the date you apply for ILR. There has been some discussion here regarding proof from previous employer (WP time). You can get a letter from previous employer mentioning the position you were employed in and the salary you were paid and period of employment. (There was also a format for that letter. If you search this forum you will find it. I think that was posted by sushdmehta). However, if you still want to cover the initial 3 years that you mention, you can use the payslips and get a tax history from HMRC. That should suffice as these are from two different source.
