When does my qualification period start

I arrived in the UK in 2005 as an overseas doctor under the permit-free training category. While I was still working here, I got my status changed to HSMP. My qualifying period for ILR is approaching but I can't get clarity on when the period started for me

I received a letter of confirmation from Home Office dated 18 Aug 2006 that my application for grant of HSMP status was successful and I should send my passport for endorsement. I therefore sent my passport which was stamped on 2nd October 2006. I thought my period of qualification commenced on 18 August when I was accepted in the scheme but people I have spoken to have said it may be the date when the passport was stamped. I know I can submit my application for ILR 28 days before the 5 year period is completed but I am not sure if my period commenced on 18 Aug or 2 Oct 2006.
Can any one advise?

Quick question, doesn't he qualify for HSMP JR and can apply for ILR after 4 years?

Also, not related to this, Do you have to show 5 years P60s or related documents in my case (hsmp+tier1)?

Only if his application was made before 03 April 2006, received an approval letter based on that application, and stayed based on that letter. If between 03 April 2006 and 07 November 2006 then it's 5 years but he doesn't have to take the LIUK test.
