Your main starting point should be the Settling in the UK section of the UKBA website at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/settlement/.

Since you are on work permit, you should fill in the form SET(O). See http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/settl ... et%28o%29/. On the same page, you'll find a link to the SET(O) form on the top right corner: SET(O) application form and guidance.

Download it, read what it asks for, answer the questions and gather the required paperwork.

If you have any issues, you can come back and ask for more information/clarification here, but in all seriousness, please try to do the bare minimum first

DO I NEED MORE PAPERS WITH MY APPLICATION

I HAVE COUPLE OF QUESTIONS TOO
MY WIFE JOINED ME IN AUGUST 2010
WE R APPLYING JULY 2011
WILL BE OK 4 MY WIFE TO APPLY FOR ILR
I RANG UKBA COUPLE OF TIMES THEY SAID ITS OK UR WIFE CAN APPLY
COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS HAD THE SAME CASE THERE WIVES GOT ILR TOO


DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT CODE OF PRACTISE (UKBA)

1. Your wife may apply for settlement at the same time as you (196D).
2. See 134(iv).
