from WP to ILR - urgent help required

Hello all,
My 5 year WP finishing next month. got entry clearance on 12-06-2006 and visa finishes on 12-06-2011. But my first entry on WP on 09-07-2006. (From nov'04 to jun'2006 i was in UK on WHM visa and worked for the same employer who sponsored me for WP)
so my first question is - when can i apply as very little margin for 4 yr and 11month criteria to apply. and which option is best - postal or premium service? Because only one or two working days is there in between my 4yr11month and visa expiry date 12-06-2011.
then next question is : WP applicatin is showing £27000 salary offered on the letter and i am getting less - so what can be the problem. My employer is ready to give me support by giving backdated salary increase if required with other necessary papers. And UKBA equivalent job position 'network engineer' is referred at £27000/pa. So what should i do? As i can read other people having problem in salary criteria changed from 6th april.
also one more thing - typical problem with indian and specially gujarati names - in my wife's (my dependant) name - visa, marriage, utility bills are ok - same name as passport but in some work related docs having 'ben' missing after the first name - will it create any problem?
