Hi,

This is a query regarding my eligibility for ILR. I will be completing five years in UK in July 2011. During the past 5 years, I have been working under the following categories:
1. 2006 - 2007 - Dependent work permit holder through my husband's visa
2. 2007 - Till date - Independent Work permit holder valid until July 2012.

I basically wanted to know if I am eligible for applying for my ILR in July 2011 or do I have to wait till 2012.

Also, is there a possibility that I can apply as a dependent on my husband's application which he is submitting in a couple of weeks time.

Appreciate your help on this.

Wait until 2012. Your qualifying period started when you had entry clearance/entered the UK as a work permit holder.

It seems a shame that you didn't remain as your husband's dependant.

Thanks Vinny,

Just a clarification, I got my entry clearance on my husband's visa (as a dependent) in July 2006.

I have been also working with my current company since July 2006, first year on the existing dependent WP and then my company sponsored an independent WP for which I got the entry clearance in Aug 2007.

Considering that i am employed for 5 years (and can provide employment letter etc), can i apply now or will still have to wait till 2012.

Thanks in advance.

Eligibility for ILR as a work permit holder (134) doesn't include time spent as a dependant.
