I sent my application in on the 5th of Sept. Received the acknowledgement letter on the 9th of Sept. Now, does the caseworker sometimes call the place of employment and do checks with them and with other people?

I did check the website before I made my first post and it said that most decisions are made within six months. However, should I expect to wait six months or is it likely to take that long?
