ILR refused at first but later approved!

Hi I applied for my ILR in May 2011 first week by post and was awaiting the result which came through only in Oct end. It was a shock for me to see that my ILR had been refused in spite of my case being very straightforward. It was when I read through I realised that there had been a gap between the visa dates back in 2006 when I was on WP. The reason being that I received WP approval letter just a day before the date my visa expired ie Sept 22 and by the time it reached the UKBA it was around 10 days late. The UKBA stamped the visa only from Nov 5. This the caseworker mentioned was overstay. I had not noticed this when I sent my ILR and unfortunately I had to lose around 2500 GBP for this mistake of mine. Luckily my current visa was valid until Nov 2012. I called up the UKBA and spoke to them about my case and they advised me that I could reapply for the period from Nov 2006 till now if I ensured that there was no gap between the visa dates and all the other requirements were met. This time I took a personal appointment at Croydon last week. I reached there with my 3 dependants and waited with baited breath for the decision. The caseworker called my number and when I reached the counter he told me that he was pleased to inform that I had been granted ILR. It was such a good news, I just was praying that I dont lose my money again this time leave alone the ILR.
For those who read this pls ensure that you check everything thoroughly before you send the papers. Luckily all this happened to me at the beginning of my stay here in UK and hence I was saved but had to pay £2500 for my mistake....
