Hi,

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that I got my ILR at the Croydon PEO last week. And I thought of sharing my experience with many of you who will be applying for ILR in the near future.

I was quite worried about the affect of Child Benefits I claimed for a few months on my ILR but luckily that didn't jeopardize my application. Note that I claimed CB for 4 months but returned it once I realized that I was not entitled to it on my Tier-1 (General) visa. I think returning CB helped my case otherwise the outcome would have been quite different.

I have listed below the information section wise -

My Current Status: Tier-1 General Visa valid till Dec'11

No of Dependents: 2

List of Documents submitted: (alongwith photocopies)
  • 1. All passports (current/previous)
    2. Previous HSMP/Tier-1 Certificates from Home Office
    3. Life in the UK Test certificates
    4. 5 years salary slips (only last 15 months are required though)
    5. All P-60s available at the time of application
    6. Bank statements for last 15 months
    7. Cohabitation Proof - Council Tax /Water Tax letters, or any other letter/bill addressing the applicant and spouse
    8. Birth Certificate(s) of minors
    9. Award Certificate of last Degree attained
    10. All Employment letters (current/previous)
    11. Letter from the current employer that the applicant is working there and is needed in the current employment
Fees: £2700

Hi Harry, Congratulations! in point 11 you mentioned the letter from employer and that you are still needed. Is this compulsory for on tier 1 G? Thanks in advance.

Hi Harry - Congrats on ur ILR application.
I will complete my 5 years stay on WP + Tier 1 (No need for tier 1 extension). Regarding the points for age in my ILR Application I will claim the same points i did at the time of initial application of Tier 1 general (Have i got that right?)
