Hello All,

I will be applying for my ILR under the 10 year long stay category this month & there are a few questions I need to clarify on before submitting my application.

1) On my SAR report there is a note left on my profile saying the 'University transcript provided did not seem authentic, due to a public holiday transcript could not be verified'. I remember I went to the home office personally to have my visa extended. In the end I was given limited remain to leave for 2 years without being asked any questions.
I will be honest due to my naivety I did tamper with the transcript, which I feel extremely guilty about. However I did end up completing my degree joining another course & received a 2:1. I have had 3 visa extensions after 2005 without any issues what so ever.

My question is that during my ILR application would the note left on my profile for 2005 come in to question? Will verifications be done? If found what is the worst that can happen?

2) My 2nd question is that, are HMRC linked with UKBA? If for eg. you are self employed & have not paid your tax does the home office or UKBA get notified? If not whats can I be faced by?

These are 2 questions which I need to clarify before I send my application; any response/feedback would be extremely valuable.

Yes they could look at the tampered transcript issue, and this could result in a refusal of your application on general grounds.

Yes they can find out from HMRC that you have not paid your taxes, and this could result in your application being refused.

Probably a good idea to seek legal advice on your application.

1. Upto the caseworker if he/she wants to investigate it further or not.
2. Since u had visa extensions after this then probabaly u will be ok.

2012 as you mentioned that its up to the caseworker that they might or might not investigate,lets say if they do & find out the transcript was indeed tamperd with, what can happen to my application?Apart from refusal will i be prosecuted as such?

1. General grounds for refusal.
2. No prosecution but ban.
