US Citizen, Living In UK, Child Is Uk Citizen

I'm trying to gather some information for a friend, and hoped someone here could help me.
Shes a USA citizen, been living here for a year with her UK born husband, has a young son who was born here during that time and is registered as a UK citizen.
The marriage has broken down due to abuse on her husbands part, with some documentation as proof (Visits to doctors, contact with helplines). Shes seeking to get out of the marriage, but the UK is her home, her sons home, and she doesn't want to leave.
What are the best options for her to gain ILR? We've looked into the domestic abuse visa, but I'm certain with her child being a fully UK citizen, she'd have more options to look into. I'm planning on moving her and the child in with me as soon as possible to make sure shes safe, but shes nervous about leaving in case they force her out of the country, especially without her child.
