Hi Folk
My brothers wife is applying for ILR set m in the next week or so via the postal route , this will be done before the 29th feb,
With regards to this biometric stuff, what does she have to do in addition to the usual filling in the set m and the usual paperwork they want for it,
Am I correct no Biometric requirement for all set m ilr applications if posted before the 29th feb and it only applies to applications sent on 29th feb and after.
Pls can someone clearly advise. Getting a little confused.
Thanks

thanks greenie, i seen that, it says no biometrics required for settlement ilr's
but im understanding this to mean thats the case now
is biometrics required for set m ilr 's after the 29th?
and anyone who applys before the 29th, are they excluded from this new proposed rule ?
Sorry just a little confused,

not sure how you can be confused. the topic explains when biometrics are being introduced for ILR applications.

they are introduced on the 29th feb
so does this
a) apply to those who apply on or after the 29th feb
or
b) apply to those who's ilr decisions are made on or after the 29th Feb
sorry , that's all i want to know.

Hi Greenie,
Contacted UKBA and they confirmed they are not aware of any biometrics for ILR. I referred them to the information on the website i.e.
From Wednesday 29 February, all applicants in the UK will need to obtain a biometric residence permit if they are applying to stay here for more than 6 months. This includes applicants for permission to settle here (known as 'indefinite leave to remain').
They described that this is for new applicants whose immigration catagory would have permission to settle (ILR) after qualifying period.
I asked again for more clearity, and they said they have not got such information that ILR would need a biometric.

UKBA 'advice' given over the telephone is notoriously unreliable.
