Uk residence card Application,. EU national Not In UK

I AM JUST HELPING A FRIEND:

Hello mates,

A friend of mine came to the UK with EEA FP with his wife(eea national), he has now submited an application for a Residence Card and still in progress.

Because of family issues, The wife has gone back to her country, but will return much later to the UK

Can the Home office find out that she is not in the country? if yes. will it affect the application??

EEA national can be out of the country for 6 months without effecting right of residence in the uk but 2 years if holding PR
