Applying for EEA Permit Outside Native Country,Help Please!

Hi There,

So I am looking to apply for a EEA Permit to join my partner of three years in the UK. After doing a bit of research, I found some conflicting results and wanted to seek some clarification. Here's my question:

I am a US Citizen that is planning to apply for a EEA Permit for the UK whilst on holiday in Amsterdam. I plan to apply from the following website:

I will then make an appointment, then I'll proceed to the below website to register with the UK Visa Application Center in The Netherlands

I basically want a peace of mind and would like to know if I'm right in thinking that this is possible or not? Any help would be amazing! Thank you all.

What nationality does your partner hold? If they are an EU national (i.e not British) unless you have been living together in a 'durable relationship' you won't qualify as an extended family member. The first link you've posted is for a UK visa, not an EU permit.
Why are you applying from the Netherlands and not from the US?

My partner is British. We have been living together for the past 2 1/2 years in Australia & New Zealand with mounds of paperwork to prove this. Rental agreements, joint bank statements, partnership work visas in NZ, photos etc. Ive been living in San Francisco and she-s been living and working 2x jobs in the UK. We're familiar with this process but would like to know that it IS in fact possible to apply from the Netherlands? It would be much more convenient as it fits my travel plans. Thanks again

How long do you intend to stay in the Netherlands? While your visa application is being decided you will be without your passport.
You say you have been living in San Francisco while your partner has been in the UK. How long have you been apart?

Yes, I do understand that I will be without my passport and I'm more than comfortable with that as I will be catching up with family friends but that's beside the point. It would be almost 2 months apart so far. Thanks again. I assume I AM able to apply from another country apart from my native then?

You may want to check with the UKVI agents in the Netherlands for confirmation that they will accept your application as I assume you'll be there on a visa-waiver. You'll be asked to give the address where you are 'living' rather than your home address in the US.

Happy to help. Make sure you include evidence of how you've kept in touch during your months apart (together with the documented proof you already have of your co-habitation). Bear in mind the case worker will want to see evidence of a relationship 'akin to marriage'. I'm assuming you'll be applying for an Unmarried Partner Visa.

Please note that you are not able to apply for a EEA Family Permit (as your title suggest) because your partner is British. EEA Family Permit is for EEA nationals other than the UK.

These posts have given me a new wave of motivation.

I plan to apply to 'remain in the UK with Family visa' as I will be in the UK and my partner is a British citizen and is currently employed. She has never worked in The Netherlands.

We do not have a formal civil partnership however we have been living together the past 2 1/2 years with proof of joint bank accounts, tenancy agreements, NZ Partnership Visas, History of past texts, photos, etc. My question is:

Would this satisfy visa requirements?

Am I able to choose the '2-year route?

Is there still that 18,600 minimum financial requirement? If So, would assets count towards that minimum threshold?
