Comprehensive sickness insurance: plesae help

Post by Student19 » Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:49 pm

Hello,

I am EU citizen an this post is about my wife's EEA2 residence card application. She is non-EU and we are married and live in the UK. I am a student and have comprehensive sickness insurance from my home country. However, my wife's application was rejected because I had provided insufficient evidence that I have comprehensive sickness insurance. I had sent a document from my health insurance company back home that outlined that they cover all medical treatments abroad. It did not outline any specific treatments or inclusions or exclusions. My question now is: what exactly does the Home Office want? I have read that this is assessed on a case by case basis and there are no regulations on how the document should look like..? I have emailed the HO and got an automatic reply with no real answer and I can't get through to them via telephone. Maybe someone here can help?

Did you sent EHIC or private medical insurance documents from your country. If it is EHIC then the decision is wrong but if it is private medical insurance policy from your country then contact the company and get a documents showing list of treatment & limits and the ask for reconsideration and appeal both.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have EHIC but private insurance and will ask for a more specific document. Would you (and others here) suggest we appeal or re-apply with a new application?
