Retained right of residence after Brexit

Hi,
Am a bit confused. So let’s say my non eea wife has got pre settled status now after 3 years of marriage and we want to divorce, how will she apply for retained right of residence?

Does she have to wait until she has settled status and state she’s divorced or what happens next.

Very confused and need advice
