Post by Zodiac » Thu May 06, 2010 6:52 am

Hi Everybody,

I shall be grateful if queries listed below is answered.

I have a family of 3 individuals (including myself) who are EEA Nationals (holding portuguese passport) and residing in INDIA and are intending to migrate to London on permanently.

We shall be intially stayign with our relatives. Now as soon as we arrive, i need to open a Bank account, obtain NIN and search for jobs. The bank account is needed for funds transfer from India to meet basic expenses.

On preliminary enquiry with some of the banks in london they have laid a stringent requirement for residence proof of minimum 3/6 months in london. This cannot be possible as we shall be just arriving.

Please advice as to how to open a bank account for a EEA national who has just arrived in U.K.

Incase of any dispute which are statuatory agencies to whom i can refer this dispute.

How do EEA nationals who just arrive in U.K open a bank account.
what are the other things to be done for individuals who just arrive in U.K for the first time.

Will greatly appreicate response and advice or email me at zodiacs306@rdiffmail.com.

Thanks

Shop around. DIfferent banks have different policies. It's even possible that one branch tells you something different than another. New arrivals open accounts all the time. There are even special offers for such people though EEA nationals should find it generally rather easy. A basic current account should be no problem.
