EEA2 Dependent Visa for NON EU

Hi,
I had applied for my EEA2 application on the 2nd of March, 2012, but I have not yet received COA.
I have already sent a fax to UKBA. I have also tried calling them several times. But I was told the initial check hasn't been done yet.
Its more than two months, since my application. I know it does take 6 months before I can enquire, but is there any other way that I can get an update on my COA.
Is there anything else I am missing out on knowing here ?
