According to this response by the HO for a FOI request the average time for a EEA2 is 76 calendar days.

Although their third answer just doesn't seem right. 13,000 application and only 1,800 granted.

Interesting, I wonder did they mean that of those received during the said period 1800+ were granted, but those received before the period were still being dealt with afterwards?

From experience, I note that it can take a number of weeks after the official issue before people actually receive the passport back.

it is absolutely against the human rights that UKBA decide eea2 application within 6months,because they decide application for studies, work and indefinite leave on the same day and application on marriage with british citizen within days.
I donot know why they take soo long in such an advanced country.
The eea2 application should be decided in one month or maximum in two months in complix situation, but in simple cases it sholuld be decided within days.
Therefore we all need to request the Govt to reduced the time limit to 1 to 2 months on humanterian basis.

While it is inconvenient, in most cases the Residence Card is only a confirmation of your existing rights. There should be nothing you cannot do without it, so the time it takes is not actually that important.

The more serious problem is that the theory is wrong: a lot of places will not deal with you until you have the residence card. That needs to be fixed.
