Hi,

My husband is a Portuguese citizen and he lives in London. I'm brazilian and I want to ask for an EEA family permit so I can join him, but he doesn't have the registration certificate. Can I ask for the EEA family permit without it, or it will be refused? How long does it take to get this registration certificate?

Thanks

1. Residence certificate is not required for EEA Family Permit. You can prove he is exercising treaty rights by providing payslips or a letter from employer.

2. Being Brazilian, you don't need to apply for EEA Family Permit (although the UKBA seems to indicate you do). Book a flight and enter as a spouse of EEA national. At the border, you will need to present a marriage certificate, copy of your husband passport and proof of his employment. The exact same evidence required for Famiy Permit just without the hassle of attending the consulate.
