EEA3 -- many (short) trips

Good morning,

I am considering getting a document certifying permanent residence via the EEA3 route. Section 8 of the EEA3 form requests that I "show any time you have spent outside the UK during the 5 years".

I am traveling regularly abroad for my work. At times I am leaving/entering the UK several times a month (or even a week). The time spent away from the UK has, however, always been WELL under the 6 month p.a. required. Moreover, since there were so many trips, I can't recall most of them...

Does anyone have any experience about how to fill in this section given my situation?

Thanks!

There is no legal requirement to provide the UKBA with such information. You can use whatever other evidence you have to satisfy the residence criterium.

This is a very good question. You can either.

1. Write a letter along these lines... "I have lived in the UK for the required period. I have had frequent short-trips outside the UK during that period, typically for weekends, holidays (insert as appropriate). I am unable to recall the specific times, but can confirm that at no time was I absent for more than 6 months in any given year".

...or

2. Not bother with that and not give any details and hope they deal with your application quickly in any case.

(I know the first one works...)

I've filled out the list for my EEA3 application, had about 45 business and holiday trips over the past 5 years, it took some time to get it done, but better do it to avoid extra questions and lost time

What extra question? What lost time?

I suspect the poster was concerned that by not providing the information then his application might have been delayed.

That doesn't make any sense.
