I was just wondering what happens after your receive your permanent residence visa. What happens if you and your partner break up, or if you decide to be single, etc. I am American and he is French. Can anyone help??

nothing, you can stay in the UK as long as you like.
they maybe able to revoke you PR card if they find out that it was marriage of convenience but who knows if they can be bothered after they gave it to you.

PR is derived from EEA law which represents settled status. Non-EEA national once got it no longer is required on the activities/treaty rights of EEA national.
