So I got my Residence Permit (Phew after just over six months) I need to know a few things

Can I use this as ID, my residence permit came on a A4 piece of paper with the sticker/card on it.

Can I use it to get my provisional license, my passport is expired so could I send my birth cert with my residence card?

Can I use the rc to travel to Ireland? I assume you need a valid passport which in my case is expired.

If I did have a valid passport would I need a visa to travel to Ireland (on my own) and back.

Some info you may want to know about me. I live in England, I was born in England but my nationality is Nigerian (long story) My passport is expired and nigerian. My mum is an Irish citizen working and living in the uk.

I assume you are talking about a Residence Card that was issued as a result of a successful EEA2 application?
Generally it is only valid in combination with a valid passport, although that does of course not rule out that you may sometimes be lucky and have it accepted on its own. But I would not count on it, certainly not for travel.

However, depending on when exactly you were born and how long your mum was living in the UK a that time already, it could be that you are automatically entitled to British Citizenship, which would make life a lot easier and render all your questions here irrelevant.
