Hi all,

I read some where on this forum that if EEA is a student so non EEA family member do not have to keep CSI to be elegible for PR, only EEA should be covered, so I cancelled my medical insurance and was keeping my wife's insurance for last 1.5 years.Now after reading a EEA4 form I was lil bit confused over this issue and called to European enquiries and asked about it, and they told me that even if an EEA is a student all family members should be covered, well now I think I have just lost 1.5 years towards my PR and need to get insurance for myself again.

Can some one please guide me whether I should buy CSI for my self or not?
The person on EU enquiries gave me wrong information?

Thanks for sharing the link.After reading all the information above I did not get one thing that if UKBA want us to keep CSI then why they don't made it clear by saying it on the EEA4 just like Self-sufficient category.why they are confusing people?

The HO don't require a non EEA family member to have CSI in the case of a student.

I agree it is not very clear on the EEA4 form. They just say CSI and don't state who it should cover. It is clearer on the EEA2 form. There it states "EEA national" under student and "EEA national and any family member" under Self-sufficient.

The information regarding CSI is written in UKBA guidance notes/websites with confusion especially pertaining to students. Only in case of self sufficiency it is required to cover all family members but if the EEA national is student then only he/she needs it.

If one looks at the regulations, it does not specify CSI for family members, but does for the student.

The regulations could be amended, but until such time as they are, then students can take advantage of this.
