confusion over CSI for Non EEA

Hi all,
I read some where on this forum that if EEA is a student so non EEA family member do not have to keep CSI to be elegible for PR, only EEA should be covered, so I cancelled my medical insurance and was keeping my wife's insurance for last 1.5 years. Now after reading a EEA4 form I was lil bit confused over this issue and called to European enquiries and asked about it, and they told me that even if an EEA is a student all family members should be covered, well now I think I have just lost 1.5 years towards my PR and need to get insurance for myself again.
Can some one please guide me whether I should buy CSI for my self or not?
The person on EU enquiries gave me wrong information?
Thanks,
Bil.
