SS ROUTE Living together requirement

Hello,
I find this forum very helpful.However I have a question and that is inorder to qualify for surinder singh route do married couples actually have to live together at the same adress in EU member state or can they live at different adresses. The reason am asking this is because I have a job offer which covers the accomodation for me but not for my partner.
