Hi all,

I am an German, my wife is Japanese. She is applying for her residence card (EEA2). I requested my passport back and have received it a couple of days ago.

I am trying to find out if I eventually have to submit my passport again. I couldn't find any information about this on the UKBA web site. Will UKBA send us a letter requesting to resubmit my passport or shall I just send my passport to UKBA quoting our reference number?

Furthermore, would it be the same if my wife requested her passport back? She wouldn't withdraw her application.

Thanks for your help,

Henning :D

You do not need to send your passport, it won't affect the decision of the application.
For you wife if she request hers, she doesn't need to send it back unless her caseworker request her passport which they rarely do. If her case is decided it is issued on A4 paper( immigration status document), which is acceptable for travel too.
