Hello friends,
I have some issue. I am issued UK residence document-as as EEA family member.
So, I plan to visit Africa and my question is..
1. Do they usually call my EEA national at the UK airport when I am coming back from Africa. Does my EEA national has to be in the UK when I am coming from UK?
2. Can I travel alone to and from africa
Any experience???????
thanks for your response.......

yes you can travel alone to your country
they may want to know where EEA national is and what she doing
90% time it will be just a question and they will let you go straightway
but it is always good to carry her recent proof of address and payslip if working with you and don't forget to write down her phone number if you can't remember and make sure immigration officers don't stamp your passport and you don't need to fill landing card

you got valid resident card . just take a proof of address , recent payslip and marriage certificate with you
they may not ask you any of this it's just as a backup. the only question will ask for sure is where is your sea family member and what she doing in the UK
they will not ask her to come to the airport.

Agree with askmeplz82! I very often travel without EEA hubby. On my way back the same questions:
1- who is your EEA family Member - Answer- hubby or dad or wife or ........
2- what is his nationality
3- where is he base (he may be out of the UK on your date of arrival, but definitely need to be residing in the UK) so just tell them he reside in the UK
4- how is he exercising treaty right and where (working or student or selfemployed or selfsufficient.......)
5- how did he acquire his nationality (Answer from birth or naturalisation..... (asked only once)
So it all depend of the immigration officer mood
But for sure he does not have to be at the airport.
However if you have had an Immigration issue before then get ready to answer load of questions if they are suspicious. They may ask to talk to the EEA on the phone, happened to one of my friend. But the EEA was not home so someone else answered the phone and confirmed details of the couple, so after 3 hour and finally going through luggage search they let him go
Otherwise nothing to worry about. Enjoy your trip

You can ask why they keep asking about your partner.
