Family Permit for my Mother -

I am just wondering whether I can still apply under EEA route for Family permit for my mother who is now alone and depandent on me for 8 years.
I have Non-EEA PR status and my wife is EEA national with PR. But, I have submitted my AN (British citizenship) application and waiting for approval etc and now wondering if I can still apply FP under EEA route for my mother providing my wife is still EEA National. I understand (may be I am wrong) that once you become Brithish you cannot apply FP for your depandant under EEA route.
Can I still apply under EEA route based on the above information?
