Residence Card - traveling overseas before the decision

Hello,

I’m sincerely hoping somebody here could provide me with specific information I need.

I’m a Serbian national married to an EU citizen living in the UK. I currently hold an EEA Family Permit valid until 3rd December. I applied for a Residence Card a month ago and have received the Certificate of Application subsequently. I will need to travel overseas in mid December for a few days (this was mentioned in a covering letter accompanying my application for a Residence Card) and I am aware that I can request the return of my passport even if the decision hasn’t been made yet.
My concern in this case is whether or not I will be allowed entry into the UK upon return from overseas as my EEA Family Permit will have expired by then. Will the Certificate of Application, along with my husband’s EU passport (we will be traveling together) be sufficient to enable me to re-enter the country? What other options may I have?

I greatly appreciate any advice.
Mia

depend on where you travelling. Some Stupid will not allow you to travel without valid resident card. even if they do it's not straightforward.

Thanks for the response.
Do you happen to have had a similar experience, or know of anyone who has? I will be flying to Australia with Etihad.

As you are a visa national, the airline may refuse to let you board without the proper clearance.

that's what i fear. i don't expect them to be willing to go through my paperwork if i'm lacking the visa.
thanks for your input though.
