Hi Everyone,

I applied for EEA2 in October 2012 as an unmarried partner of EU national. Got refused RC as durable relationship was less than 2 years. Had an oral hearing in December 2013 and waiting for judge decision. My partner is 5 month pregnant and lost the job. Can she apply for housing benefit as none of us are working now? and will it have any affect in future? any helpful advice would be appreciated. cheers.

Your partner will be fine.

She retain her status as worker, therefore she is entitled to those benefits.

Provided of course she is registered as unemployed or jobseeker.

Hi Obie,

Does Housing benefit have any affect on non-eea partners PR application later on? My partner has been working full-time for past 7 years.

No it shouldn't in the circumstances of your case.

That is long time away. You first need to establish your relationship is durable, then try and get a favourable exercise of discretion under regulation 17(4).
