FAMILY PERMIT PALAVA

I will keep my story succinct, since I have been a little bit scared all day about my future in the UK.I have though got some answers from other quarters about my situation.
I have a six months family permit visa that would soon expire.I came in November with my wife.I have only started a job 2weeks ago.she hasn't. my visa will expire in march.I am of the opinion that since it will expire and my wife is not exercising treaty right.I will have to leave and come back again. Now I was advised that it is not needful for me to do so.Since my wife is not using any public fund, and I am working, which will amount to her been self sufficient.
My worries is this...
1. By the time my visa expires-will I or not be eligible to apply for a residence, cos my wife is not working and besides I have not work up to 3months.
2.I was been told about CSI Route(comprehensive sickness insurance).last week I used the ambulance, cos I had flu,and we dont have insurance.please can someone put me through on how to go about this. And me using their NHS ambulance doesn't it diminish my chances with this CSI route.
3. Is it safe to be in the country after my visa is expired and my wife is not working.Should she start any work probably after my family permit expires, will it affect my application for residence.I would rather go out of UK and re apply for a new 6 months family permit, than to be branded an illegal immigrant.
my wife is spanish, and we moved in from spain.
