When can EEA1 be applied for?

Hi, quick one.

Can EEA1 be applied for before 3 months in the UK are up? Or is it necessary to send the application after 3 months of work in the UK?

I've heard that sending EEA1 and EEA2 together in the same envelope speeds up the process. Is there any truth in that?

Cheers

There is no need to wait 3 months to apply for EEA1.

Applying for both won't speed the process (but would give you a good indication on the outcome if the Registration Certificate for the EEA national is issued. The RC can still take 6 months though).

I'm not sure the EEA1 is worth the £55.

Thanks Jambo. I'm sure it's not worth the 55GBP, but, as you say, it gives an indication about how they would view the EEA2 application. If they accept my EEA1 surely they couldn't reject my partner's EEA2!

Cheers :)

The issuance of EEA1 actually confirms that EEA national is presently a qualified person but EEA2 RC application can still be refused if the case worker is not satisfied from the marriage/relationship. But in most cases the issuance of EEA1 is a good signal towards EEA2 RC application.

You're right Sheraz! I hadn't thought of that! :(
