What would be the status of a persons 'EEA family permit' issued for 5 years if the EEA national acquired British Nationality? means the actual sponsor (EEA national) is no longer an EEA National.

to elaborate;
'A' was issued 5 year EEA family permit to come join 'B' in the UK who is an EEA National. Now say after 1 years 'B' acquired British Nationality. Now what is the status of 'A' as this person still has 4 more years left on EEA family permit etc.

Oh dear... sounds scary.

If you haven't yet changed to British citizenship, I wouldn't advise doing it just yet. British people's partner's are not entitled to the same rights under EEA (unless via Surinder Singh). Can't you wait until your family member gets PR? It would be a pity to jeopardize that!

There could be several possibilities;
a. either 'A' permit which was originally issued for 5 years becomes null and void
or
b. he or she needs to submit another application to transfer visa to something else
or
c. 'A' would be allowed to leave it and after 5 years can apply for ILR etc.

or may be more..
